Mr. Omotayo Akande, the President of the Student Union Government of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State has been suspended for allegedly trying to source unnecessary funds from the university authorities.
In a statement which was signed by the Student Representative
Council comprising the SUG Speaker, Adebari Adedayo; Clerk of the House,
Ogunkanmi Omotayo; and Deputy Speaker, Olowofoyehan Oluseun, on Monday, the
leadership of the Student Union Government of the Obafemi Awolowo University,
Ile-Ife, Osun State concluded that the SUG President’s suspension would be a
month long.
The Punch reported that Mr Omotayo sort to get the sum of N650,00
from the school authorities in other to be part of a conference in the United
States of America. This move as confirmed by the students’ council was a breach
to its oath of office.
All efforts to reach Akande had been fruitless as calls put
across to reach him on phone failed.
