Syria is a Hell on Earth

The death toll there has doubled in a year's time, if an opposition group is right.
Since civil war broke out there, 310,000 people have been killed, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Thursday.
A year earlier, SOHR's tally stood at 162,402. And the year before, the United Nations put the death toll at 70,000.
Violence has plunged well over half of all Syrians into such destitution that they are in dire need of survival aid, the United Nations says, as food rations are being cut for lack of donations.

Numbers alone can't convey the immeasurable anguish of millions, but maybe it can remind the rest of us of the magnitude of the world's currently greatest tragedy.

We’ll rescue Nigerians if situation demands, says minister

THE United States has joined the South African government and other civil society leaders in condemning the violence against foreigners taking place in KwaZulu-Natal and other parts of the former apartheid enclave that has led to the killing of some migrants.
They stated their concern at the loss of innocent lives, destruction of property, and impact on families and communities, and urge those involved to refrain from all forms of violence, exercise restraint, and rely on peaceful dialogue to resolve any differences.

President Elect Muhammadu Buhari and Oby Ezekwesili make Time's list of 100 most Infuential people

Its great new for Nigerians as our President elect makes Time's list of 100 most influential people. The list which is segmented into five categories namely: Titans, Pioneers, Artist, Leaders and Icons.
Muhammadu Buhari was listed under the Leader category alongside Oby Ezekwesili a major influence in the #BringBackOurGirls campaign.

Time magazine quoted him to have said “We must begin to heal the wounds and work toward a better future,” in his April 1 victory speech. “We do this first by extending a hand of friendship and conciliation across the political divide.” It’s a promising start for a President-to-be who wants to leave a legacy to match the historic conditions of his election.

Obiageli Ezekwesili wasnt left out of their write up as the writer said:

‘’Although I have not met Obiageli Ezekwesili, I know the #BringBackOurGirls campaign that she championed is very important. It would have taken a long time to raise awareness about the girls taken by Boko Haram without her using her platform as a former Minister of Education’’.
kanye west made the list as a titan among others....

Xenophobia in SA...This Killings have to Stop

 image : AFP/Getty Images
In 2008 in Gauteng, fellow brothers and sisters from the continent were injured and killed in violent xenophobic attacks. In January this year, violence broke out between foreign nationals and locals in Alexandra after a Somali shop owner shot and killed a 14-year-old who tried to rob his shop. Looting followed. It then spread to Diepsloot and the West Rand. This week, xenophobic violence erupted in Kwa Zulu Natal and Johannesburg, leaving at least six people dead and displacing thousands.
We must never condone any form of violence. We must never celebrate when a fellow human being is killed or attacked simply because they are of a different nationality.

Google collects your Email address to serve you Ads

In the never-ending quest for eyeballs and dollars, Google is said to be asking advertisers for customer data like email addresses to serve up more highly-targeted ads, the Wall Street Journal reports.

In the proposed idea, an advertiser — like an online retailer, for instance — would give Google more data about their customers, like their email addresses. Google would then use that data to let that retailer buy ads targeting those existing customers when they search for products the retailer sells.
Such a move mirrors a similar service Facebook launched in 2012. Called “custom audiences,” Facebook’s ad offering has helped the social media company grow its advertising revenue by 65% to $11.5 billion, the Journal notes, cutting into Google’s ad share.

Kidnapped Orekoya Kids Found

Few days ago, some kids were abducted by supposed nanny to the Orekoya family named Mary Akinloye. It was learnt that the nanny had only resumed for a day before executing the act.

You would recall that the news went viral on most social media platforms on the kidnap of the kids and the ransom of 13million requested.
The parents however lamented about the fact that they couldn't raise the amount requested by the nanny and her gang only for news to go round that the kids have be found in shagamu area of Ogun State.
The mother of the kids had to clarify the rumor via her Facebook page that it was false.
See image below:

However, 7 hours ago, Mrs Adekunle Busayo Adekunle Orekoya took to her Facebook page to announce that her kids have been found. Thou there was no comment of if the ransom was paid or not.

Comments have since rolled in from well-wishers as the children have been reunited with their family. We hope the same story would be the fate of the Chibok girls who have been kidnapped for a year and 1 day now.

Is our Petroleum minister seeking Asylum?

The petroleum minister Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke last night through the Group Public Affairs General Manager of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Mr. Ohi Alegbe, denied the rumor of her seeking relocation from Nigeria.

Alegbe stated that his boss is just out of the country for a short vacation and would soon return to her job contrary to an online publication that the minister had been denied asylum by six countries, where she had so far applied, but did not state the said countries.
Business Council for Africa (BCA) has been quoted to say that no fewer than six countries had already refused an asylum request by Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke.
The BCA gave the impression that the minister would be investigated under the new administration of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), even though he had said that he would not probe his predecessors.
BCA recalled President-elect Muhammadu Buhari clearly stating that the rest of the world looks at Nigerians as corrupt, and that his administration will pursue all public offices and individuals who are believed to be guilty of corruption.
It would be recalled that her administration has experienced scandals in relation to mismanagement of resources and missing funds.
I guess we would have to wait till our president elect is sworn in to unravel these miseries.
