Department of Petroleum Resources Shuts down 14 Petrol Stations in Lagos

The Department of Petroleum Resources on Friday stormed many filling stations at Ikorodu, Ibeju-Lekki and Ketu, in Lagos, closing up 14 stations for manipulating their dispensing pumps and over-charging consumers, and some other offences.

While all the affected stations had N87 per litre on their pumps as the normal price, the pumps were under-dispensing petrol, with virtually a litre lost by consumers for every 10 litres bought.

Bayelsa Oil Fields Spills Confirmed By Shell

Multiple spills into Ikarama oil fields in Yenagoa Local Government, Bayelsa State has been confirmed by Shell Petroleum Development Company.


According to The Punch, spokesman for SPDC, Mr. Joseph Obari, confirmed this on Wednesday while speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria that seven spill incidents were reported on Aug. 12.

Houtou Wan a Chinese village has become a beautiful secret garden since its abandonment for about  50 years.


Located on one of 394 Shengsi Islands of China’s Yangtze River, Houtou Wan village was known for the very lucrative job of fishing as a town. It  was abandoned overtime as the number of vessels increased more than the size of available bay and the population ultimately had to relocate.




Comptroller-General Of Customs Voluntarily Retires

President Muhammadu Buhari has accepted the resignation of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Alhaji Dikko Abdullahi.

With the acceptance, Abdullahi is anticipated to proceed on voluntary retirement from Tuesday 17th of August 2015.
He had earlier written a letter dated 3rd of August to the President within which he notified Buhari of his need to proceed on voluntary retirement from Tuesday.
Buhari’s approval of Abdullahi’s request was dated August fourteen and in person signed by the President.
He thanked the NCS boss for his services to the country within the last six years.

The President’s letter was titled, “Voluntary retirement from the Nigeria Customs Service.”

NNPC Threatened By Asari Dokubo, Fasheun, Adams Over Unpaid Dues

Former Niger Delta militant leader, Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, factional leaders of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Dr. Frederick Fasehun and Otunba Gani Adams, as well as other beneficiaries of the controversial Pipeline Security and Surveillance contracts, have called on Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to pay their outstanding fees by the end of the month, or face legal action. 


In an open letter addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari, they claimed that they had a three-month contract with the NNPC, from March 15 to June 15, which they delivered on but are yet to be paid.

Lagos State Government To Run One Account For All Its Transactions From September - Gov. Ambode

Governor of Lagos State,Akinwunmi Ambode has approved the operation of one account within the state beginning from 1st of September, 2015.

According to an announcement issued by the Permanent Secretary/Accountant General of the Lagos State, Abimbola Umar, the authorities took the choice to deal with the challenges antecedent long-faced with the operation of the multiple account system.

Federal Aviation Administration Issue a Warning To Drone Operators

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a warning to drone operators.
"Operating drones around airplanes and helicopters is dangerous and illegal. Unauthorized operators may be subject to stiff fines and criminal charges, including possible jail time," the agency said.
The FAA sent out this message Wednesday as the number of close calls with unmanned aircrafts reported by pilots soared by 762.5 percent in June compared with June 2014 and surged by 280.5 percent in July from a year ago.

Indonesian Plane Goes Missing Few Minutes to Landing

An Indonesian flight carrying fifty four passengers and crew members has gone missing. The plane, the plane that has been in existence for twenty seven years, lost contact with the air  traffic management authority in Papua at about 2:55pm.

The Trigana Air Service flight carrying forty four adult passengers, 5 kids and 5 crew members, left Sentani field at 2:22 p.m. and was meant to land at Oksibil airport at about 3:05 pm however disappeared ten minutes before it was meant to land.  Indonesia Transport ministry said no distress signal was made from the plane.

Search and rescue have begun although it's since been impeeded as a result of bad climate.Operations to recover the plane, believed that might have crashed within the steep mountains would hopefully continue tomorrow.
