Men Of Lagos Police Command Kill 5 Suspected Robbers In Shootout
The Police in Lagos on Wednesday killed five suspected armed
robbers and arrested one with bullets wounds. Police sources told newsmen in
Ikeja that the suspects had engaged policemen from Elemoro Division, Ajah in
Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area in a shootout where they were killed.
He said that five of them were killed on the spot and one
injured by bullets was arrested. “The police in Elemoro got information that
the suspects were operating at Abule Parapo, opposite Awoyaya in Elemoro area
of Ajah around 2 a.m.
Ondo APC Says No To 7bn Loan For Mimiko
This was contained in a statement by the party’s Director of
Media and Publicity in the state, Steve Otaloro, who noted that the bid for the
loan earlier turned down, has now been approved by the state’s House of
Assembly.
The statement reads: “The attention of the Ondo State chapter
of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to a story making the
rounds that the “always ready” State House of Assembly has approved another
whooping sum of N7 billion loan for the state government.”
The party said it would not have objected to the loan if

He said that though the government appreciated the
development, it was still not enough to condone corruption, stressing that his
government would,still prosecute them in due course.
He stated that the prosecution of suspects is taking time
because the government is painstakingly gathering hard evidence against them.
President who spoke during a meeting with the Nigerian
community in Iran decried the constraints inherent in democracy, recalling that
it was easier for him as a military Head of State in 1985 to arrest corrupt
individuals and put in protective custody for them to prove their innocence
than in the present democratic practice.
He acknowledged that under the rule of law, the suspects are
presumed innocent until convicted by the law.

On Tuesday, a Chinese lesbian took the government to court
over textbooks describing homosexuality as a “psychological disorder”, a
landmark case in a country where discrimination remains common.
A student at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, Qiu Bai, aged
21, brought the action against the ministry of education, demanding that it
give her details of how it approved materials and how they can be corrected.
In 1997, China officially decriminalized homosexuality,
removing it from its list of mental illnesses 4 years later.
Qiu’s team showed AFP a manual, “Student Psychological
Health”, published in 2015 by the prestigious Renmin University and distributed
to students nationwide.
