You
may recall that on Sunday,the Yobe
state police command confirmed that the
suicide bomber who killed 15 people in an explosion in Damaturu, Yobe State,
was about 10 years old.
The
spokesperson for the police, Toyin Gbadegeshin, who addressed journalists in
Yobe, stated that the girl detonated the explosives at the gate of the market,
killing herself and 15 others.
He
said, “A female suicide bomber, aged about 10 years, detonated the explosive
device at the crowded main entrance of the popular Sunday Market, killing 15
people, including 10 females and five males, while injuring 47 others.”
Development from the Nigerian Police website says that "Police
Bomb experts that responded to the 26th July, 2015 Sunday Local Market suicide
bomb attack in Damaturu during a sweep recovered five (5) undetonated
Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) at the scene".
The
items were safely removed from the location.
