The family
home of the Chief of Army Staff, Maj. Gen. Tukur Buratai, have been reported
burnt down in his village in Borno State by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
At least, eight
people were reported injured with two others dead during the attack on Buratai’s
village on Tuesday, sources told PUNCH correspondent.
The
insurgencies reportedly killed two auto mechanics and torched some houses while
the attack on the community lasted.
A source was
quoted to have said: “What really
happened was that Boko Haram went there. They killed two motorcycle mechanics
and torched some houses. It is not a massive attack. It was an isolated
opportunistic attack, but the Army is on top of the situation. Troops are on the
ground now.”
Col. Sani
Usman, the Acting Director, Army Pulic Relations in his words said, “The public are encouraged to use the road as adequate security measures
have been put in place for their safety.” In a statement,
Usman said that the road linking Biu-Sabon Gari to Damboa in Borno State has
been cleared of landmines.
