Bode-Akinwande Foundation (CBA) a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) committed
to alleviating the plight of widows and indigent children has called on
governments at federal and state levels to come to the aid of this group in the
society.
The
Foundation made this appeal when it hosted widows to a capacity building and
free health check programme.
The
organization with headquarters in Lagos has five-point agenda of assisting
widows.
At
the event, which was held at Bright and Success Nursery and Primary School,
Ikotun, Lagos, participants were counselled on business and skill development,
health check and free food and clothes.
Mrs. Bode-Akinwande was represented at the occasion by Mr. Henry Ebem, one of the directors Board of Trustees of CBA. He said that the Foundation has a mandate of reaching out to the indigent in the society.
Ebem added that Ikotun was the second community to be visited by the Foundation, disclosing that during such visits they provide medical assistance and other basic needs like food and clothes.
According
to him, CBA also guides the women in their choice of career and empowers them
so that they can be self-reliant to take care of their families. His words: “In
the next five years, I see the Foundation partnering many NGOs and the United
Nations.
In
Nigeria nobody is talking about the International Day for Widows, which is June
23rd. We would ensure that this day is made relevant.”
