No
fewer than two people were killed and eight injured in Buratai, Borno state
when suspected Boko Haram militants burned down houses, including the family
home of the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Baratai, in a village in the northeast
of the country on Tuesday, military sources and eye witnesses said.
A
resident Adamu Talba and the military source said in the attack which took
place in the early hours. Boko Haram fighters has waged a deadly campaign to
take over a state adhering to strict Islamic law in Nigeria’s northeast for the
past six years. After being pushed out of most of the Nigerian territory they
gained earlier this year, the group scattered and returned to attacking soft
targets. President Buhari has made ending the insurgency his priority and
currently working with international organizations and countries to make it a
reality.
