EXCLUSIVE; 10 MOST DANGEROUS BUS STOPS IN LAGOS

Although the state government is taking all steps to curb crime in Lagos metropolis, it is important to be on the lookout for some bus stops in the state that are known to be dangerous. Activities in these bus stops include pick pockets, phone stealing, gun point robbery etc.

Below are the 10 bus stops you must be careful of in Lagos.
1. Obalende: Any day any time, Obalende bus stop must be included in the list of notorious bus stops in Lagos. If you’ve been to Lagos and you have never been to this side of the metropolis, you have not been to Lagos.

Obalende is the bus stop just after you exit the 3rd mainland bridge on your way from the mainland. The number of miscreants in that bus stop is 2nd to none. You can vividly see them sleeping under the bridges in the morning while some are smoking .The astonishing thing about this bus stop is the way the act of pick pocketing is done. They mostly aim your smart phone. They time their victims who are usually residents waiting for a bus or trying to rush to get into one.
The classes of people that fall more victims to their antics are the ones that use head phones plugged to their phone. They automatically become their prime target as they use the cable of the ear phones to pull out the phone and off they disappear. Please be warned, be careful with your belongings when approaching this bus stop.

2. CMS: This can be said to be the center of Lagos. It’s the major bus stop you land when you visit the Island through Surulere axis. Miscreants in CMS aren’t too obvious; they mostly are dressed neatly in order to approach you for a conversation. They target bag carriers or people going to the office.
They mostly work in teams, while one engages you in a conversation; one might have stolen a valuable or two from your bag. Don’t stop to have a conversation with an unknown person.

3. Oshodi: Thanks to the Lagos state government, Oshodi is a better place. Few years ago, Oshodi used to be the den of all kind of atrocities.
From pick pocket, fake currency exchange to stealing, Oshodi is known for using razor to tear bags and nylons. They make it easy for whatever item they are eying to leave your custody by using blade to slit the bag, pocket or nylon.

4. Cele Express: You definitely should be careful when at this bus stop. Their strategy is unique and it’s very easy for greedy individuals to fall prey to their antics.
You might have heard the gist of someone having a container load of goods cleared in a warehouse and needs distributors or someone looking for an address that he/she is supposed to deliver some expensive stuff to.
They make you juicy promises but in the end if you fall in, you are surely going to regret it and part with something valuable.

5. Iyana Iba: This is a bus stop under Ojo local government area. The same lga houses the famous Alaba international market and Lagos state university campus.
This bus stop is not only known for picking pockets, gun point robbery but also numerous killings. The bus stop is bounded to the left by the fence of LASU and to the right by large vegetation. Farmers in that axis use the vacant land to plant crops though some uncultivated sides are still visible.
Over the years, people have been victims of different kind of atrocities in that environment, sometimes leading to death.

6. Berger: When coming into Lagos through the Lagos –Ibadan express road, the first bus stop you see is Berger bus stop. Some Lagosians and visitors to the center of excellence alight at this bus stop.
The danger of here includes missing luggage, money and other valuables especially at night.
If you will be walking that route at night, be sure to be vigilant and have a form of identification on you as you might need it to identify yourself in case of police arrest. I should also hint you that miscreants defecate by the road so watch your steps also.

7. Ikeja Underbridge/Along: People are generally of the opinion that boys from the computer village are the same ones that get to rob people of valuables in that location. I guess you might have heard of people that have bought ‘FUFU’ instead of mobile phones or someone that went into the market with money but couldn’t buy anything because he/she couldn’t find the money again.
They are swift and have a clear bargaining power to convince you to part away with the cash and get fufu/nothing in return.

8. Iyana Ipaja: If you are fond of watching wrestling or stopping to watch people sell native drugs or perform miracles, this bus stop is where you watch out for.
From early evenings, you will see movies being playing and people selling stuff from the bus stop down to under bridge. Once people begin to gather to watch, operation is ongoing and be sure to hear someone has lost a valuable. Same process goes for the folks watching wrestling.

9. Iyana Oworo: Approaching 3rd mainland bridge from Oshodi, Ketu or Bariga, Iyana Oworo is the bus stop by the tip of the bridge.
You need to watch out for this place if you are fond of using your phone on public transport especially when sitting by the window. Thugs find it easy to snatch phone from moving buses while they escape by crossing to the other side of the road. Picking of pocket isn’t a new thing to them as the bus stop is always full of people trying to get buses to different part of Lagos. These activities occur mostly in the morning and evenings, it will be wise you stay clear and careful.

10. Mushin (ile ipo isale): This is the last bus stop to Mushin from wherever part of town you are coming from. It is faced by Ojuwoye market. One thing Mushin is widely known for is street fights. Don’t let yourself be caught in the midst of them .it’s always an opportunity to molest and steal from passerby.
