Idris Elba and David Oyelowo Honored By Queen Elizabeth With Order of the British Empire Titles

British actors Idris Elba and David Oyelowo were on Yesterday Dec. 30th honored by Queen Elizabeth as both received Order of the British Empire Titles (OBE) for their achievement on the big screen.
Oyelowo cmment on the award saying: "To be honored by the Queen in this way having been aided by her son's charity feels like a beautiful full-circle moment”.
“Awards and honors come in all shapes and sizes and all as significant as the other,"

"But this is beyond special as it comes from Queen and country, and I couldn't be more proud for receiving this right now. What a year. On me head son!" Idris Elba Said.

Federal Government Reduces Petrol Price By 50k

The Federal Government, on Tuesday disclosed that effective January 1, 2016, Petrol would be sold at N86 per litre by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC Retail stations, while other oil marketers would sell at N86.50 per litre.
This in turn means that Nigerians would get a price reduction of 50k to N1 depending where they buy from.

The Nigerian Labour Congress said, however, that it would resist with all its might, any attempt to remove fuel subsidy.

Discovered : MTN Masts Was Used To Install Radio Biafra Transmitters

According to Naijaparrot, the Federal Government of Nigeria has said that the transmitters for Radio Biafra, a rogue radio station transmitting secessionist messages were found to be installed on MTN masts in Enugu and Anambra states.
This is according to government’s case summary of the fresh six counts of treason and other ancillary offences instituted against the founder of Radio Biafra and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, and two others, before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

One of the two other defendants in the six counts filed by the Federal Government is a field maintenance engineer, David Nwawuisi, charged with the responsibility of maintaining the MTN masts in Enugu State

Police Escort To Be Detached From VIPs - IG

Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Inspector-General Police, have concluded arrangements to enforce the presidential directive on the withdrawal of policemen from Very Important Personalities (VIPs) who are not entitled to their services.
This is contained in statement issued by Mr Ikechukwu Ani, the Head, Press and Public Relations of the commission, in Abuja on Tuesday.
It stated that a high level monitoring team had been deployed to the nation’s airports, highways and other public places to enforce the presidential directive.
The statement stated that the Chairman of the commission, Mr Mike Okiro, said the team had the powers to stop VIPs’ on the highways and airports to confirm their status.

World Fattest Man Dies At 38 (Photo)

World fattest man, Andres Moreno, who weighed 980lbs at his heaviest, has died.



He died in the early hours of yesterday, December 25 as he was being rushed to hospital from his home in Ciudad Obregón in Sonora, Mexico. He suffered a fatal heart attack in the ambulance and could not be revived.

In a statement released today by his publicist, Carmen Palacios, it read: 'Andres died at 8.30am on Christmas Day in an ambulance from a heart attack as he was taken from his house to San Jose Hospital.'

He was 38 years old. May his soul rest in perfect peace.

FG Removes Fuel Subsidy, Reduces Pump Price

The Federal Government has made its intentions known to reduce pump price of petrol to N85 per litre, come January 1.



Vanguard reports that the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, addressed newsmen during a tour of the Port Harcourt refinery yesterday, December 25.He said that the Federal government is working to reduce the pump price of petrol to about 85 or 86 naira per litre by Jan 1st. Through LAGBUS and its franchises, the Lagos State Government has disclosed that it would provide free bus rides to Lagos residents on Friday, to celebrate this year’s Christmas.

Interpol Seize Fake Medicine Worth $7 Million Across Asia

According to AFP, Interpol seized counterfeit drugs worth $7 million in September in an operation encompassing 13 Asian countries, the police organization said on Monday.
Medication including antibiotics, anti-hypertension pills and even rabies vaccines were taken from hundreds of pharmacies and markets, including dozens of online pharmacies, as Interpol attempts to curb the widespread sale of fake drugs being produced in the region.
Interpol said in a statement they had arrested 87 individuals in the course of the crackdown, which "brought together law enforcement and drug regulatory agencies to target the organized criminal networks behind pharmaceutical crime in Asia".

Dasuki Granted Bail For N250 Million - Court

The embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, former Minister of State for Finance, earlier today was granted bail by Justice Peter of the Federal High Court in Abuja alongside Bashir Yuguda, former director of finance at the office of the NSA, Shuaibu Salisu; a N250 million bail was levied on each over their involvement in a N9.6 billion fraud.

Justice Peter granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N250 million each with a surety in like sum. He ruled that the surety must be a civil servant, serving or retired and not less than the rank of a director. He demanded that the accused persons submit their passports with the court registrar and that they must notify the court before traveling outside Abuja.

The ethics committee of FIFA has banned Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini from football for eight years.

The ruling in Zurich on Monday came after the two most powerful men in football were suspended pending a criminal investigation into a money transfer that Blatter approved for Platini in 2011 but both men have denied any wrongdoing.

The Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika yesterday directed an immediate investigation into the use of ladder by Aero Contractors Airlines to disembark passengers on its chartered flight at the Bauchi Airport on Saturday.
This was disclosed yesterday by Mr James Odaudu, Deputy Director, Press and Public Affairs of the Ministry.
According to him; “Several reports received by the Minister have indicated the airline used a ladder to disembark passengers from a Boeing 737 aircraft at the Bauchi airport on Saturday December 19th 2015.

‘’The act is inconsistent with Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations, NCAR and International Civil Aviation Organization, ICAO, Standards and Recommended Practices, SARPS.

Kyocera Set To Lunch World’s First Washable Smartphone

Thou your phone may look cute and shiny, but your smartphone is probably one of the filthiest things you own. The amount of bacteria and germs it carries is disgustingly huge, which is probably why a Japanese company is targeting germaphobes with the world’s first washable phone.

The Snapdragon 410 processor, 5-inch android phone, called Digno Rafre, is all set to be released in Japan by tech company Kyocera Telecom this week. Chelsea’s manager Jose Mourinho has been fired according to several English media reports.
The premier league team won the league title last season under Mourinho, but the Blues have not had it good during the 2014-15 season. The London-based club sits in 16th place, just one point above the relegation point.
You may recall that the defending champions suffered their ninth league defeat in 16 games with a 2-1 loss against the Foxes few days ago.

President Barack Obama has installed Adewale “Wally” Adeyemo, a Nigerian/American who has served in top capacity roles at the Treasury Department, to succeed Ms. Caroline Atkinson as his deputy national security adviser for international economic affairs.
Adewale Adeyemo aged 34 recently joined the White House’s National Economic Council as deputy director from the Treasury, where he had served as the deputy chief of staff to Secretary Jacob Lew. He was also the Treasury’s lead negotiator on the currency agreement that was part of the Pacific trade deal.
He replaces Ms. Atkinson who has served in the current post since June 2013, a position that includes coordinating U.S. participation in the annual summits of the Group of 20 and Group of Seven countries. Ms. Atkinson also played key roles in the recently concluded climate negotiations in Paris and in pushing the White House’s trade agenda, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement.

The former Minister of State, Bashir Yuguda, has confirmed to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that he gave a total of N600million cash to six chairmen of the Contact and Mobilisation Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2015 general election.
He listed the beneficiaries as Bode George (South-West); Amb. Yerima Abdullahi (North-East); Peter Odili (South-South); Attahiru Bafarawa (North-West);  Jim Nwobodo (South -East); and Ahmadu Ali (North-Central).
He said he instructed Jabbama Limited to transfer N300million to BAM Properties whose account detail was given to him by a former National Chairman of PDP, Bello Haliru.
Yuguda, who made the allegations in a Statement of Witness/ Caution which he wrote on oath, said he sent N200million to the erstwhile PDP Governorship candidate in Kebbi State, Bello Sarkin Yaki.

The 32-year-old Ivory Coast midfielder becomes only the third player, after Nigerians Nwankwo Kanu and Jay-Jay Okocha, to receive the honour twice.

A Nigerian preacher in Washington DC has been arrested after being accused of beating, robbing and raping escorts in hotels across Washington DC.
Gabriel Omogbo of Hyattsville, Maryland, is charged with attempted first degree murder, armed robbery, first degree assault and reckless endangerment.

Police believe that the 33-year-old used the website Backpage.com to find female escorts and arranged to meet up with them.

A petition to ban Donald Trump from the UK has attracted more than 150,000 signatures - which could trigger a House of Commons debate.
But George Osborne says it would be better to debate with The Donald, rather than banning him from the country.
It follows a string of bizarre rants from the reality TV star, presidential candidate and part-time steak salesman.
Yesterday he called for the US to put a halt on Muslims travelling to the country.

When he faced uproar over the comments, and suggestions he should be banned from the UK under 'hate speech' rules, he claimed parts of London are so radicalised that they are "no go areas" for police.

How GEJ, Okonjo-Iweala Illegally Transferred N61.4b To Dasuki

The former minister of finance, Dr. Nogozi Okonjo-Iweala, allegedly approved the transfer of at least N61.4b ($300 million and £5.5 million) from funds recovered from the late head of state, Sani Abacha, to the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki, few weeks to the 2015 presidential election, Premium Times reports.
According to reports, the former minister illegally signed off on the transfer but then closed her eyes to how the funds were spent, requesting former President Goodluck Jonathan to demand accountability from the former NSA.

Dasuki, alongside the former governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa and founder of DAAR communications, Raymond Dokpesi, are being investigated for their roles in the disbursement of $2.1 billion and N643 billion meant for the procurement of arms to fight the Boko Haram insurgents.
