Vernicia Ruguru, 36, was on Wednesday, September, 10, 2015, found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment by an Embu Magistrate court for burning her husband with acid.
Ruguru who said her actions on July 16, was self-defence. She said her husband, Patrick Njue, tried to splash the acid on her, she overpowered him and poured it on him.
According
to evidence presented in court, on hearing her husband was still alive;
Ruguru rushed to the hospital where Njue was admitted, in an attempt to
finish her mission, but was later arrested.

She was sentenced to life imprisonment, but granted 14 years to appeal the judgement.
