Samuel Okwaraji, a patriotic Nigerian football died at age 25 on the football pitch twenty six years ago. 

While growing up, most of us have heard of his exploit and how he was said to have lost his life to cardiac arrest on the field of play in a match between Nigeria and Angola on the 12^th of August 1989.

The said match was a FIFA world cup qualifier held at the National Stadium, Lagos.

The president of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick, has eulogized the dedication and professionalism of the player. The late Super Eagles midfielder, Samuel Okwaraji will today Wednesday be honoured by The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), by displaying his portrait picture at the venues of the Federation Cup quarter-finals in Abuja, Enugu, Neros Stadium, Benin City, Oleh, Lokoja, Ilorin and Makurdi.
