Islamic Cleric Rapes 24-year-old Dubai Returnee Seeking Prayers Over Spiritual Attacks
Police in Ogun State have rescued a 24-year-old Dubai returnee
from the custody of an Islamic cleric five months after he allegedly abducted
her from the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Ikeja, Lagos State.
The suspect, Olalekan Anifowoshe, aka Alfa, was said to have kept
the victim, Simbiat (pseudonym), in his rented apartment in the Atan-Ota area
of the state and allegedly had sex with her during the period.
A Good Samaritan, who saw her in May, informed her family and the
case was reported at the Onipanu Police Division, leading to Alfa’s arrest.
Simbiat and the 42-year-old suspect were neighbours in the Surulere area of
Lagos.
The suspect’s wife and three children also resided in Surulere.
The woman consulted him in 2013 for help over a spiritual attack before
travelling to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Simbiat, who spoke with Punch Metro, explained that after she
received a call from Alfa on January 11, 2016, instructing her to come back to
Nigeria, she lost her senses and returned to the country immediately.
The victim said that the Alfa had slept with her for at least 10
times, adding that anytime she demanded to see her parents, he would beat her
up and boast that she had reached her “final destination.”
She said: “Sometime in 2013, I had a dream that a man made love to
me. A friend introduced me to him and he gave me a piece of white cloth with
Arabic inscriptions to cover my body whenever I wanted to sleep, which I used.
Some months later, I travelled to Dubai.

Domino Launch World’s First Pizza Delivery Robot
Domino’s
is taking pizza delivery to the next level by introducing the world’s first
pizza delivery robot in Australia. ‘Domino’s Robotic Unit’ (DRU) is a
three-foot tall, 450-pound robot that can self-drive at 12.4 miles an hour from
a Domino’s to any location within a 20-kilometer radius.
The
robotic unit consists of a battery-powered heated compartment that can keep up
to 10 pizzas warm, and a chilled compartment for cold drinks. The water-tight,
weather-proof acrylic plastic exterior and aluminum and mild steel interior
will keep food safe, while LIDAR laser-light sensors located within the unit
will help the robot detect obstacles on his route. To prevent thefts, customers
can only access their pizzas by entering a unique code into the pizza
compartment. DRU can drive on roads as well as pavements, and is programmed to
promptly return to the store for recharging after all deliveries are complete.

Artists Seek For People Who Have Six Months Left To Live To Donate Their Bones For An Art Project
Joseph
and Alicia Sparda are attempting to get thirty three people that know they're
about to die and have even approached somebody on death row.
Both
artists are appealing for individuals with six months left to live to donate their
bones to an ART project.
Joseph
and Alicia Sparda are trying to find 33 willing participants who know they are
going to die in the next six months - and are willing to hand over their
remains.
With
the nearly 7,000 bones, they want to create a series of bizarre works of art.
Joseph,
from Boston in the US, took inspiration from the Sedlec Ossuary in Prague.
Often
called the ‘Bone Church’, the Ossuary is decorated with the bones of more than
40,000 people.

Court Orders Release Of Col. Nicholas Ashinze, Former Aide To Dasuki
According to Vanguard,an Abuja High Court sitting at Jabi has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the Nigerian Army, to forthwith, release Col. Nicholas Ashinze, a former aide to the erstwhile National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.), who has been in detention since December 23, 2015.
In a
judgment on Monday, Justice Yusuf Haliru, directed the respondents to
immediately release the applicant on self-recognition, saying his detention for
over three months without trial, was “illegal, wrongful, unlawful and
constituted a blatant violation of the fundamental rights of the applicant”.
The court also ordered immediate release of documents and items the anti-graft
agency seized from the house of the applicant.

Explosion Rocks CBN Calabar Office, Over 18 People Dead
According to Vanguard, 18 people
were on Friday morning roasted while others sustained third degree burns in an
inferno at the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, following an explosion at the
premises of the Bank located at Calabar Road by the Millennium Park. The
explosion which took place at about 11.45 am set the main edifice of the bank
on fire effectively trapping many staff and visitors which occasioned for the
high casualty fire. When Vanguard visited the scene at 12 noon, a team of
mobile policemen and soldiers assisted by nurses and personnel of the Nigeria
Security and civil defense Corps were seen keeping guard over the place while
officials of the Federal and State Fires Services were putting out the fire and
rescuing those trapped in the building.

Artisans And Domestic Workers To Pay Taxes In Lagos
Today,
Lagos State Government announced that it had increased its tax gap to include
domestic workers and artisans. Mr. Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, the Chairman of the
Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) made the announcement at a news
conference in Alausa. He said that the new tax regime was in line with Gov.
Akinwunmi Ambode administration’s inclusion of every resident for the growth of
the state. Mr. Ogunsanwo said the agency had commenced the process of
overhauling the informal sector with a view to ensuring voluntary compliance by
all tax payers. He said the agency had identified three categories of tax
payers in the sector. According to him, they include market men/women,
artisans, micro, small and medium-scale enterprises and domestic staff. He said
these categories of people were expected to remit one per cent of what they earned
to government’s coffers. Ogunsanwo said that a directorate had been created in
the agency to oversee the sector, while modalities for taxing these categories
of people had been worked out. According to him, the declining national revenue
as a result of the fall in the global price of oil and the need for government
to provide and maintain basic infrastructure necessitated the regime.

Rev. King Approved To Die By Hanging
The
Supreme Court has approved the convicted Chukwuemeka Ezeugo, a.k.a Rev. King,
General-Overseer of the Christian Praying Assembly to die by hanging.
After a
unanimous judgment on Friday afternoon, a seven-man panel of Justices of the
apex court led by Justice Walter Onnoghen, retained the death sentence that was
earlier pronounced to Rev. King by the Lagos State High Court. Consequently,
the court in its verdict that was delivered by Justice Sylvester Ngwuta,
dismissed the appeal the convicted clergy lodged before it.
Justice
Ngwuta who resounded that “the facts of the case could have been lifted from
horror film”, resolved all the 12 issues Ezeugo raised in his appeal.” “This
appeal has no merit. The judgement of the court of appeal is hereby affirmed.
The prison sentence that was earlier handed to the appellant is no longer
relevant in view of the death sentence passed on him”, Justice Ngwuta held.

New York Gang Rape Charges Dropped After Girl Confirmed She Was Having Sex With Her Father

teenagers accused of gang raping an 18-year-old lady in a New York park have
had all charges against them dropped when she admitted she was having sex with
her own father.
The

Yesterday, The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole in a press briefing, in Abuja,
explained why Nigerians should be careful with the discovery of Zika Virus.

stated that the mosquitoes were active and flying and that they mainly bite
during the day and early morning.
He
said: “Nigerian scientists working in Western Nigeria in 1954 discovered Zika
virus in Nigeria. Further studies in the years 1975 to 1979 showed that 40 per
cent of Nigeria adults and 25 per cent of Nigerian children have antibodies to
Zika virus, meaning they are protected against this virus. “Despite the fact
that some Nigerians are immune to the Zika virus infection as demonstrated by
previous studies, it is important and advisable that Nigerians should be
careful and protect themselves from mosquito bites.

Over 8 People Die As Two German Train Collide
At least nine people were killed and scores more injured, police say, after two passenger trains collided in the German state of Bavaria.
The
head-on crash happened near Bad Aibling, a spa town about 60km (37 miles)
south-east of Munich.
The
transport minister said the trains had crashed into each other while both
travelling at around 100km/h (62mph).
Emergency
teams, some winched in by helicopter, worked for hours to free casualties from
the wreckage.

Ogunwusi has passed on. She died at the age of 104.
The grandmother, Madam Mariani Ogunusi fondly

Ogunwusi died.

Man Shocked To See His Wife He Hired People To Kill At Funeral He Planned For Her

Australian woman had the sweetest revenge on her husband when she showed at her
own funeral, planned by her husband who had paid to have her killed.

Rukundo sat in a car outside her funeral and popped out when her husband,
Balenga Kalala, appeared. She told the BBC his reaction was priceless. “Is it

NCAA Suspends Operations of Bristow Helicopter S76 Series
Following
Wednesday's controlled crash of a Bristow Helicopter, NCAA (Nigerian Civil
Aviation Authority) has suspended the operation of the Bristow Helicopters
Limited's Sikorsky S-76X++ type till further notice.
The
Helicopter crashed into the high sea around 10am on yesterday with 11
passengers including two crew members on board.
According
to Daily Trust, it is the same type of Helicopter operated by the company that
was involved in a crash on August the 12th, 2015 killing six of the 12 souls on
board.
Due
to frequency of the crash involving the aircraft type, the NCAA decided to suspended
