Court Orders Release Of Col. Nicholas Ashinze, Former Aide To Dasuki

According to Vanguard,an Abuja High Court sitting at Jabi has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the Nigerian Army, to forthwith, release Col. Nicholas Ashinze, a former aide to the erstwhile National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.), who has been in detention since December 23, 2015. ‎

In a judgment on Monday, Justice Yusuf Haliru, directed the respondents to immediately release the applicant on self-recognition, saying his detention for over three months without trial, was “‎illegal, wrongful, unlawful and constituted a blatant violation of the fundamental rights of the applicant”. The court also ordered immediate release of documents and items the anti-graft agency seized from the house of the applicant.

EFCC Chairman Says More Influential People Would Be Arrested Soon

EFCC's acting chairman‎ Ibrahim Magu has disclosed that some influential Nigerians will soon be arrested as the war against corrupt practices continues. Mr. Magu made this known  this at a meeting with online media practitioners in Abuja yesterday.

"There are more influential Nigerians on the radar of the EFCC and in the coming weeks they will have their day in court and Nigerians will be be kept fully abreast of the results of the commission’s investigations,”he disclosed.

Efcc Boss Lamorde Replaced By Magu

The Chairman of the anti-corruption agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Lamorde, has been replaced by a top level official of the Economic and Governance Unit of the EFCC Ibrahim Magu

Lamorde has been the EFCC chairman since 2011.Magu is known as a diligent investigator of the commission at its inception.

He was changed along with several key officials by Farida Waziri when she became chairman in 2008.

BREAKING NEWS: NAFDAC Head, Orhi In EFCC’s Custody

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday invited Dr Paul Orhi, the NAFDAC boss for talks over alleged abuse of office.

Vanguard reported that the EFCC boss is currently undergoing interrogation for giving out contracts to companies of his interest.

A source stated that the DG, who arrived the commission’s headquarters since10am on Monday has given vital information to the agency.

While recounting, he said: “It is true that the NAFDAC head was summoned by us and he is currently being quizzed in relation to allegations that he has been awarding contracts running into millions of Naira to companies close to him.”

According to him, his release would depend on the satisfaction gotten from their investigations.

EFCC To Investigate Jonathan’s Ministers, Aides

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) is set to probe former president, Goodluck Jonathan.

The Punch reports that EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde, had already directed that all petitions against former public officers at the federal level should be forwarded to him to be acted upon.

Investigations have however revealed that former ministers, special advisers, heads of parastatals and those of other Federal Government agencies would be invited for interrogation by the EFCC in a few weeks from now. The Punch learnt that EFCC would focus on those whose establishments attracted huge allocations from the Federal Government when former President Jonathan was in power.
