LIONEL Messi had thought the case against him would be dropped when he repaid £3.7 million to Spanish authorities.
But the Judge in charge of the case rejected a letter of request by the public lawyer to solely prosecute the footballer’s father.

Both father and son have been accused of cheating the tax collector out of 4.16 million euros (around £3.1 million) in taxes associated with Messi’s image rights between 2007 and 2009.
His father Jorge is claimed to possess funneled cash into fake firms in Belize, Uruguay, Switzerland and Britain.

Messi and his father paid five million euros to the tax authorities as a “corrective payment” when they were formally charged in June 2013.
