According
to Vanguard, Jonathan revealed in a closed door meeting with the leadership of
the party at the Presidential Villa on Wednesday, May 13 that he might take a
break after handling over power to Mohammadu Buhari on May 29.
The
meeting was geared at ending the lingering crisis in the party after the
general elections in which some party leaders, stakeholders and members have
been calling for the sack of the present National Working Committee, under
Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu.
Some
PDP members and associates of President Jonathan have since decamped to the All
Progressives Congress (APC) following the loss of the March 28 presidential
election by the PDP.
President
Jonathan urged the National Working Committee (NWC) and members of the party to
put behind them the defeat from the election. He promised to return stronger to
help rebuild the party after taking a short break outside the country with his
family.
