US Police Officer Sacked For Student Assault In South Carolina

A US police officer has been fired after video showing him throwing a female student across a classroom went viral on the internet.
Senior Deputy Ben Field has been sacked according to Richland county Sheriff. He was a faculty resource officer at the varsity in South Carolina.
He "should not have thrown a student - he could have done a lot of things he was trained to do, he was not trained to throw a student", Mr Lott said.
The incident occurred at the Spring Valley high school in Columbia, witnesses aforesaid, when the African-American student refused to put away her mobile phone and refused to exit the classroom.
The incident was recorded by a fellow student and was posted on the internet, prompting an outcry from numerous civil rights and parents' teams. The video shows the officer knocking the student down and pulling her across the floor
Mr Lott said he had received expressions of support for the officer, who had been at the varsity seven years, from some parents and college officers.

But he aforesaid the officer had "lost control" and had not addressed the incident properly.
