A
pastor at the Christian Proctor Church in Vermont, has been sentenced to 1 year
in federal jail because he refused to marry a gay couple.
This
comes shortly when the Supreme Court’s 5-4 call ruling that states should
enable gay-marriage.
The
Christian Pastor, 56-year-old Paul Horner, had his attorney speak to reporters
on his behalf
“We
are currently disputing the guilty verdict and I am confident my client will be
a free man here shortly,” said attorney Tom Downey. “Horner was just using his
best judgment according to his rights and religious freedom in this country.”
The
Honorable Myron Danus two-handed down the tough sentence.
“Religious
freedom goes each ways in which, Mr. Horner,” Danus told a packed court. “It
isn't your home to deny people constant rights that everybody else has, rights
that were passed down and given in a court of law, which is the Supreme Court.
It’s not your call whether or not or not you trust the law however a lot of
significantly that you simply follow it and enforce it.”
